Looking for an unforgettable cycling adventure through some of New Zealand’s most stunning landscapes? The Lake Dunstan Discovery Tour offers the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. Cycle along the crystal-clear waters of Lake Dunstan, and enjoy the spectacular views of Central Otago’s rugged beauty. The Lake Dunstan Trail offers an accessible ride past vineyards, historic sites, with charming townships at either end of the trail.

This self-guided bike tour includes trail comfort bike rental and shuttles to connect you with the trail.

• Cycle from Cromwell on the Lake Dunstan Trail
• There's a professional and comprehensive trail briefing and professional bike fitting before getting out on the trail
• Trail map with winery highlights included
• Return to Cromwell from Clyde in the afternoon by Kiwi Journeys shuttle transfer or upgrade to the Lake Dunstan Explorer scenic boat transfer ($100pp) 

Previous cycling experience is essential for enjoyment of this trail.  This ride is not recommended for beginners.

Check-in Cromwell (ride Cromwell-Clyde)

Begin your ride from our Cromwell depot at the Freeway Orchard complex and cycle to Clyde

• Ride: Cromwell to Clyde, suggested arrival: 9.30am
• Return shuttle departs Clyde at 4pm
• Arrives back at Cromwell just before 4.30pm

This package includes:

• Premium Trail Bike hire
• Shuttle: Clyde to Cromwell in the afternoon
• MIPs helmet, mini-repair kit, waterproof pannier & handlebar bags
• Trail briefing and bike fitting at the Cromwell depot
• Trail map
• Kiwi Journeys first class customer service
• NB: upgrade for $100pp to the Lake Dunstan Explorer scenic cruise in the afternoon (3pm) for the return to Cromwell - a wonderful way to get a different perspective of the lake and the trail, with informative commentary and a wonderful host!

Upgrade:

SELECT Lake Dunstan Explorer - Speed Boat Transfer (3pm from Clyde) during checkout to experience Lake Dunstan from the water instead of a road transfer back to Cromwell from Clyde ($100pp)

Grade & Distances

• Self-guided experience 
• Distance – approximately 43kms, depot to depot
• The Lake Dunstan Trail is rated as an intermediate-level (Grade 2–3) cycling and walking trail
• Approximately 3–5-hours of riding featuring spectacular, narrow sections with steep drop-offs, suspension bridges, and compacted gravel terrain 
• The route of the trail is largely remote, and as such, a decent level of fitness and biking experience is required to enjoy it

Accidental damage insurance:

Accidents do happen, we highly recommend you take accidental damage insurance. For example if the bike fell over and damaged a wheel, stand, derailleur or eBike computer, we will cover it! (new eBike computer = $250)
